OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Thurston County authorities say all 33 underage drinkers arrested by party intervention patrol in Yelm were taken to Olympia to talk with alcohol abuse counselors.
The prosecutor’s office says there were more than 60 current and former Yelm High School students at a Saturday night graduation-and-birthday party where a neighbor complained about noise. Police found a keg and drinking games involving beer and hard alcohol.
Officers also arrested the 45-year-old mother of one of the underage drinkers as well as a 21-year-old who purchased the keg of beer.
At the Public Health and Social Services office in Olympia the underage drinkers were evaluated by a licensed chemical dependency professional and encouraged to make healthier decisions in the future.
