(1090 The Fan) — Seattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Chris Young visited with the Steve Sandmeyer show before the weekend series with the Texas Rangers. Young fielded questions about the club’s season, his new found health and pitching at Safeco Field.
On starting the season in another organization: “It’s certainly not the way you’d script a career when you start out. You worry about staying in control and for me, I love the game of baseball. I love playing and love the competition. I feel I’ve been shortchanged the past few years dealing with arm issues. I’m trying to make the most of the year. I’ve worked hard to be here and hopefully there’s more to come.”
The 35-year-old hurler also spoke about what he’s picked up watching Felix Hernandez pitch as well as life-lessons learned from Hall of Fame member Greg Maddux.
