(1090 The Fan) — Michael Saunders has been activated from the 15-day disabled list by the Seattle Mariners and will be in uniform for Friday’s game against the Cleveland Indians.
The 27-year-old outfielder was placed on the DL on June 11 after he experienced right AC joint inflammation.
During his five-game rehab assignment in Tacoma with the Rainiers, Saunders hit .450 (9-for-20) with two doubles, one triple, one home run and seven RBI. Before being placed on the DL, Saunders was hitting .272 (40-for-147) at the Major League level with six doubles, three triples, four home runs and 25 RBI.
To make room for Saunders, the Mariners optioned Jesus Montero to Tacoma. In five games with Seattle this season, Montero went 4-for-14 with a home run.
