(1090 The Fan) — One of the league’s toughest outs and one of the league’s most dominant arms will represent the Seattle Mariners in the 2014 All-Star Game in Minneapolis: Robinson Cano and Felix Hernandez.
Cano will be making his sixth All-Star team and his first as a member of the Mariners. The 31-year-old was elected by the fans as the starting second baseman. Cano is the first AL second baseman to start five consecutive All-Star games since Roberto Alomar (1996-2000). In four previous All-Star games, Cano is 1-for-15 with one RBI.
Appearing at the July 15th game at Target Field will mark the fifth All-Star game for King Felix — which ties Randy Johnson for the most by a Mariners pitcher in club history. Hernandez, 28, has pitched in two of the four previous All-Star games he has been selected to play in, allowing one hit in 2.0 scoreless innings.
