(1090 The Fan) — The Seattle Seahawks have placed tight end Anthony McCoy on the season-ending injured reserve list and signed free agent wide receiver Ronald Johnson Thursday, according to the team’s official website.
McCoy, 26, left the field during Tuesday’s practice with an apparent Achilles injury. The team later confirmed that the tight end suffered a torn left Achilles tendon.
This is the second consecutive season McCoy will miss with an Achilles tear. The tight end missed the 2013 season with a torn right Achilles tendon.
RaShaun Allen, Cooper Helfet, Zach Miller and Luke Willson are the other tight ends currently on the Seahawks roster.
Following the placement of McCoy on the injured reserve list, the Seahawks signed free agent wide receiver Ronald Johnson.
Johnson, 25, played for USC from 2007-2011, where he stood out as a kick returner. He was drafted in the 6th round by the San Francisco 49ers, before being traded and signed to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad. A broken, dislocated ankle before the 2012 season kept Johnson from seeing playing time, and he was released in 2013.
