(1090 The Fan / AP) — Former Washington Husky Jake Lamb will be joining the Arizona Diamondbacks for Thursday’s series finale against the Kansas City Royals.
The 23-year-old third baseman was a sixth-round pick out of Washington in 2012 and has produced a .321/.406./.553 line in his three-year minor league career. In 2014, Lamb has hit .327 with 39 doubles, 15 home runs and 84 RBIs in 108 games with Double-A Mobile and Reno.
Lamb was ranked as the club’s No. 13 prospect by Baseball America prior to the season.
To make room for Lamb, Arizona designated infielder Andy Marte for assignment. The 30-year-old Marte hit .188 with a homer and three RBIs in six games for Arizona this year.
