SILVERDALE, Wash. (AP) — Several hundred people gathered in a church Saturday at a memorial for a 6-year-old girl who was found dead a few days after she went missing from her home.

KOMO-TV reports that the family of Jenise Wright told stories about her kindness and sense of humor at the memorial in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Silverdale.

Jenise’s body was found Aug. 6 near the Bremerton, Washington-area mobile home park where she lived.

Gabriel Gaeta, 17, has been charged with first-degree murder with aggravating circumstances, felony murder and first-degree rape of a child.

At the memorial, Jenise’s relatives said she touched the hearts of everyone she knew.

KOMO reports that inside the church, all who showed signed a banner for the Wright family in remembrance of Jenise.
