(1090 The Fan) — Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Phil Bates joined The Steve Sandmeyer Show Tuesday after the first major round of roster cuts. Bates, a former quarterback at Ohio University, discusses his transition to wide receiver since entering the NFL, the advantage of doing so in Seattle and the key to playing receiver with quarterback Russell Wilson.
He also spoke about how important the game Thursday against the Raiders is for him in his attempts to make the final roster. The Seahawks are likely to keep six receivers, possibly seven, but at least four of those jobs are locks leaving little room for error for Bates, Ricardo Lockette and Bryan Walters.
