PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A river otter born at the Oregon Zoo will be moving next week to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.
Zigzig the river otter, who is also known as Ziggy, departs for Seattle on Monday.
A keeper in the Portland zoo’s North America section notes that otter pups in the wild usually stay with their mothers for about a year before setting out on their own, so this move is well timed.
Zigzag is named for the river that flows down Mount Hood through the Zigzag Canyon. Keepers say the otter is an active young adult.
His older brother, Molalla, lives nearby at the Seattle Aquarium.
