SEATTLE (CBS) — Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is notoriously tight-lipped with the media, but according to one report, he didn’t hesitate to offer up some words of encouragement — and $500 — to a young employee at a Dallas McDonalds.
According to TMZ, Lynch stopped at the McDonalds on November 1, where 17-year-old employee Terrance Downs was mopping the floor. Downs started chatting with Lynch.
“I told him I liked his shoes — navy blue Buscemis — and how I wanted to buy a pair and we all started talking,” Downs told TMZ.
Lynch asked Downs about his goals, to which Downs replied that he was interested in fashion and hoped to own a boutique.
Per TMZ, Lynch then gave Downs $500 and told him the money would help if Downs was serious about getting the shoes. Downs says after handing over the cash, Lynch told him, “My job is to continue to see you grow.”
Downs says he purchased the shoes, and added he “hopes he can do that same thing for someone else one day.”
