MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Marysville Police have arrested a 22-year-old baby sitter in connection with the February death of 4-month-old girl in her care.
Cmdr. Wendy Wade said in a news release Friday that the Marysville woman was watching a friend’s daughter in her home Feb. 26 when the baby stopped breathing. The infant died in a Seattle hospital three days later.
Wade says the Snohomish County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide and said the girl died of head and neck injuries.
Wade says the woman was arrested Friday, months after the baby’s death because investigators had to wait for lab and other forensic results.
The baby sitter’s lawyer, Cassie Trueblood, tells the Daily Herald that the woman “maintains her innocence and wants her day in court.”
