Police Investigate If WSU Football Players Involved In Fight

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Pullman police are investigating reports that several Washington State University football players were involved in a brawl that sent two students to the hospital and injured several others.

Police commander Chris Tennant says police have confirmed that football players were present at the party, but not if they were involved in the brawl early Saturday morning.

Witnesses told police that a group began throwing firecrackers at people during a student party. The group was asked to leave, and a fight started.

The fight left one student unconscious with a head wound and another with a broken jaw that required facial reconstructive surgery. Tennant says two other people were injured.

WSU Director of Athletics Bill Moos issued a statement Monday saying his office will cooperate fully with the police investigation.
