14-Year-Old Killed When Car Driven By 15-Year-Old Hits Tree

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department says a 14-year-old boy was killed when a car driven by his 15-year-old friend struck a tree.

Investigators said the boys were driving home at about 3:40 a.m. Wednesday after meeting a friend at a drive-thru restaurant when the car crossed the center median and struck a tree on the other side of the road.

The driver was taken to a hospital, but the brunt of the crash was on the passenger side.

The car belongs to a relative of the driver. Detectives are looking into how the boys obtained it.
