Insurgents fired rockets into an American base in Afghanistan early Tuesday, damaging the parked plane of the visiting chairman of the U.S. joint chiefs of staff, the U.S. military said. The general was safe in his quarters at the time and later left the country aboard another aircraft.

Structural engineers from St. Louis and Seattle spent Monday assessing damage to Boeing’s 97 buildings. Spokeswoman Yvonne Johnson-Jones said there was damage to at least seven of them, including three or four office buildings and a couple hangars, and work was suspended until Wednesday.
Budget carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA on Wednesday said it has ordered 122 new aircraft from Boeing and 100 from Airbus in separate deals, making it the largest ever aircraft purchase in Europe, according to the airline.
