The Huskies were led by freshman point guard Nigel Williams-Goss who scored 15 points and delivered four assists. Leading-scorer and All-Pac-12 guard C.J. Wilcox was held to just eight points on 2-for-10 shooting from the field including 0-for-7 from beyond the arc.
Washington State did make a run in the second half. The team exploded for 43 points behind a 20-6 run that enabled the Cougars to close a 54-35 deficit at the 6:46 mark to a 60-55 game with 56 seconds left.
In the 5-minute overtime period, Colorado (14-2, 3-0) went on a 10-4 run to take command of the game. Despite a couple late threes that brought the Cougars to within one, Washington State suffered its third straight conference loss to open the Pac-12 season.
