Steve, Bill & Jason talk with Oregon basketball play by play announcer Jerry Allen, former WSU Football player Deone Bucannon, and Seattle Seahawks free safety Chris Maragos
This year’s senior class is enjoying a season in which the Cougars (5-5, 3-4 Pac-12) are one victory away from qualifying for a bowl game. They host Utah (4-6, 1-6), on Saturday in Pullman.
It was the first win for WSU at Cal since 2002, snapping an 8-game losing streak to the Bears. In 2002, Jason Gesser was at the helm, leading WSU to an eventual Rose Bowl appearance. This time it was Halliday who finished 42-for-67 with 521 yards passing, falling just 10 yards shy of the school record.
The matchup with the Cal Bears reunites WSU head coach Mike Leach with a former assistant in Sonny Dykes, now the head coach at Cal. Dykes was a graduate assistant alongside Leach at Kentucky, followed him to Texas Tech where he ascended to offensive coordinator. It’s safe to say there are commonalities between the two offenses.
In its annual Seattle game, Washington State proved no match for a physical, mature and fundamentally sound Stanford squad ending up on the wrong side of a 55-17 beatdown.
