The Seattle Mariners are looking to the past to reinvigorate the worst hitting team in baseball, hiring Edgar Martinez as their hitting coach on Saturday and reassigning Howard Johnson to the minor league system.
Over the course of an 18-year career Martinez hit .312/.418/.515 with 2247 hits, 514 doubles, 309 home runs, 1261 RBI and 1219 runs scored. He walked more times (1283) than he struck out (1202).
Steve, Bill, & Jason talk with Seattle Seahawks WR Golden Tate, Seattle Times UW Husky Football beat writer Adam Jude, CBS Sports Radio Host John Feinstein, and former Seattle Mariner Edgar Martinez
Ken Griffey Jr. kept telling stories, continued to acknowledge his appreciation to the fans and reminisced about his career, even as the scheduled game time came and went.
Writers voting for the MLB Hall of Fame Class of 2013 aren’t giving Edgar Martinez Hall of Fame treatment by any stretch.
