Kozun, Lipsbergs Lead Seattle To Win Over League-Best Kelowna

Seattle (31-15-2-3) out-hustled and out-worked a Rockets team that has dominated their foes all season, winning 4-1 at the ShoWare Center. Roberts Lipsbergs had a goal and an assist and Shea Theodore provided another power-play goal to propel the Thunderbirds.

One night after struggling on its power play, Seattle (30-15-2-3) rebounded in a big way, Saturday with all four of its goals coming with the man advantage. Shea Theodore was a major part of that all night. The defenseman finished with a goal and three assists for the T-Birds.

Seattle Looks Listless In 7-1 Loss To Kamloops

Seattle was hoping to close off a great month of December the right way, but got off to a disappointing start against the Blazers, a team that came in dead last in the B.C. division. Prior to Tuesday’s game, the T-Birds were 7-1-1-0 for the month.

T-Birds Fly Out Of Everett With 3-2 Victory

Seattle (22-10-1-3) goaltender Justin Myles provided 36 saves including some critical ones late as Everett attempted a furious late rally with a 2-man empty-net power play with 45 seconds left. The win was Seattle’s 10th in its last 11 contests, and evened the season series with Everett (22-11-4-0) at one win apiece even as the team was outshot 38 to 21.

Seattle Rookie Mathew Barzal Has Had A Fast Start To His WHL Career

Barzal, 16, has scored six goals and delivered 25 assists in 32 games for fifth place Seattle (21-10-1-3). His 25 assists trail only defenseman Shea Theodore (27) for the team lead and his 31 points are fourth most amongst T-Birds skaters.

Short-handed Thunderbirds Beat Portland For 8th Straight

The win was also Seattle’s (20-9-1-3) first in regulation over the Winterhawks this season. Troock had two goals and an assist, and Danny Mumaugh improved to 10-5 thanks to 33 saves on 35 shots. In the sixth match-up between the two squads this season, each team was without at least one leading scorer.

Rockets Blast Past Thunderbirds In Shoot-Out Win

It was a hard-fought, close battle all night between two of the top Western Conference squads coming in, Kelowna taking the 50-46 shots-on-goal edge. Kelowna entered with the best winning percentage and riding an 8-game winning streak.
