Settled in 1851, Port Townsend was originally named “Port Townshend”, by George Vancouver, for his friend the Marquis of Townshend. Found to be a safe harbor, the community thrived on fishing and shipping. Many of its original Victorian homes and beautiful early 1900′s buildings remain. And Port Townsend has become a destination for romantic weekend getaways.
