The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Washington is $4.02. That’s 27 cents higher than the national average.
Gov. Chris Gregoire on Friday directed the state Department of Commerce to monitor rising gas prices in the state and asked the agency to recommend what actions can be taken to help reduce costs to drivers.
WA residents are digging deeper for gas money. The AAA auto club reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Washington is $4.07, which is 17 cents higher than the national average.
The longer the BP Cherry Point refinery at Blaine is out of service because of fire damage, the higher gasoline prices will go for drivers in Washington, said Tim Hamilton, executive director of the Automotive United Trades Organization, an association of independent dealers.
According to AAA’s latest reports, the average price of gasoline in Washington is $3.49, which is higher than the national average.
