Twenty-five years ago today, Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman turned a reoccurring fanzine and mix tape collection into an underground, Pacific Northwest record label. After a quarter century of spikes, booms, financial plunges, cooky artwork, and music from all over the globe, Seattle’s independent record label Sub Pop is a household name among record collectors and bands across the planet.
Seattle loves their old school vinyl records. With Record Store Day just around the corner, we thought we’d share some of our favorite LP and 45 spot around the Sound.
Record Store Day 2012 is on Saturday, April 21 at participating independent record stores around the US. It’s a day to celebrate the vinyl album and the independent retailer. And to help Seattle celebrate, country superstar Dierks Bentley will be doing a FREE live performance at Easy Street Records!
