Washington State lost much more than the game on Saturday
A person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press that Washington’s Steve Sarkisian has accepted the Southern California coaching job.
Brock Motum scored 31 points and Royce Woolridge added 25 as Washington State closed out the regular season by crushing USC 76-51 on Saturday.
Dewayne Dedmon could only watch from the USC bench as his Trojans watched a two-point lead turn into a seven-point deficit midway through the second half. The rest of the USC team was just as helpless as host Washington sunk 17 free throws without a miss over the final 17:40 to put the Trojans away, 65-57, on Wednesday night.
Skyline’s star quarterback has been voted The Associated Press Washington state player of the year for all classifications — one more accomplishment for his resume before heading off to USC
Huskies quarterback Keith Price committed three turnovers in the fourth quarter to short-circuit Washington’s attempts to rally from a 17-point deficit, and No. 11 USC held on for a 24-14 win over the Huskies on Saturday.
USC Trojans quarterback Matt Barkley and his No. 11 Trojans make their first visit to Seattle since that 2009 upset when they face the Huskies on Saturday at CenturyLink Field. Even though he didn’t play the last time USC (4-1, 2-1 Pac-12) ventured north, Barkley doesn’t view this matchup with any more importance with the Trojans trying to rebuild a resume that took a hit less than a month ago with their upset loss at Stanford.
