The Washington State Ferries’ online vehicle reservation system crashed last week because it couldn’t handle the large volume of customers hoping to make summer reservations.
Crew mistakenly believed ferry was rated for 1,600 passengers, was really only 1,200.
The state Transportation Commission is set to vote Tuesday on increasing fares for state ferries. The proposed fare hikes of about 6 percent would be phased in over the next year.
The state Transportation Commission is holding five public hearings on proposed increases in ferry fares.
A state ferry worker has been demoted after bringing jello shots to the Clinton Ferry terminal last March, according to KING 5 News.
