Shea Theodore had three assists and Mathew Barzal provided two to lead the Thunderbirds’ scorers on a night the team won their eighth consecutive home game and earned their first season series win over Tri-City since the 2004-05 campaign.
Since January 25th when Seattle upended Everett 4-3, each player has produced four goals and five assists. Their great play has also been a boon for their linemate, forward Justin Hickman, who scored five goals in a two game stretch prior to Friday.

So far through 36 games this season, coach Konowalchuk has nearly split the goal-tending duties 50-50 between Myles and 17-year-old Danny Mumaugh. Myles, 18, has now posted an 11-5 record in 19 games with a .896 save percentage and 3.39 goals-against-average (GAA).
Barzal, 16, has scored six goals and delivered 25 assists in 32 games for fifth place Seattle (21-10-1-3). His 25 assists trail only defenseman Shea Theodore (27) for the team lead and his 31 points are fourth most amongst T-Birds skaters.
While the 10-day hiatus comes at a time the T-Birds are rolling, having won 9 of their last 10 games, it also comes at a time when the team is ailing.
Spencer, 17, made his debut with the Seattle Thunderbirds, Friday night as the team edged Portland 3-2. It was the forward’s first game since signing November 29th out of Minnesota.
The win was also Seattle’s (20-9-1-3) first in regulation over the Winterhawks this season. Troock had two goals and an assist, and Danny Mumaugh improved to 10-5 thanks to 33 saves on 35 shots. In the sixth match-up between the two squads this season, each team was without at least one leading scorer.
