Looking to celebrate your little one’s birthday at someplace other than the usual go-to Chuck E. Cheese’s or Children’s Museum? Check out these ideas around Seattle, each sure to thrill a whole pack of little ones hungry for cake and fun.

Lynnwood Ice Center

19803 68th Avenue West
Lynnwood, WA 98036
(425) 640-9999
www.lynnwoodicecenter.com

Lynnwoods’ house of hockey is stocked with space, ice, arcade games — a perfect venue to let the kids run wild (er, skate wild that is). The center features package rates ranging $110 to $140 for parties of eight, getting you reserved space, a decorated table and free skating for the parents. (You still have to bring in food, or make due from the ice center’s cafe). Private party lessons from one of the center’s professional coaches are also available for an additional fee.

If ice isn’t to your child’s liking, try the drier turf of the roller rink. Skate King’s basic package runs about $55 per six guests and includes basic skate rentals, a server, party table, candles, decorations, ice cream and soda. The premier package for about $85 per six kids adds pizza and an upgrade to inline skates.

Three words to ponder: DECORATED PARTY CORRAL! How can this not be fun? Located in Carnation, about 45 east of Seattle, Remlinger Farms features an animal barnyard, pony rides, a kid-sized rollercoaster, a Ferris wheel, a steam train and more. Birthday packages include all these attractions plus pizza, salad, cake and ice cream. Prices run $300 to $350 for 15 guests; daily late June-September, and weekends only from May-late June and September-October. Check their website for latest scheduling and details.

Creation Station Lynnwood

(425) 775-7959

As promised on their website: “The birthday child and friends build, discover and explore to their hearts’ content, using recycled materials that we supply.” After that, it’s time for cake and ice cream (other food not allowed), opening presents and then creating take-home goodie bags. Prices start at $125 for up to 10 guests.

Roaring Mouse Creative Arts

7526 20th Avenue Northeast
Seattle, WA 98115-4402

Another fun and artsy option, the staff at Roaring Mouse can help you plan a unique project your young artists can dive into at the studio. Toys and musical instruments are available for more playtime, depending on the age group. Parents must supply the food and drink, and are welcome to bring their own music CDs as well. Prices start at $150 for up to eight children; see website for more details.
