According to a recent survey, Seattle ranks as the sixth best city for dogs in the United States and appropriately, Seattle also has numerous local dog breeders that consistently meet high ethical and breed-specific standards. Most of the locations are either half an hour to a little over an hour’s drive away, so that you don’t have to go too far to get your dream pet. With 11 off-leash dog parks, numerous dog-friendly venues, multiple veterinary options and a wide array of retail establishments catering to pets, Seattle is the perfect place for pooches and their people. From shih tzus to newfoundlands, dogs can be found in great abundance and variety in Seattle parks, beaches and sidewalks.

Abelard is located one hour north of Seattle, Washington and is a member of the Evergreen Golden Retriever Club and the Golden Retriever Club of America. As a member of the Evergreen Golden Retriever Club, Abelard has signed a Code of Ethics to breed better golden retrievers. Abelard requires potential adopters to provide references, have fenced yards, participate in puppy obedience courses and to spay and neuter their puppies to prevent potential unwanted litters. Abelard believes in providing for their puppies throughout their lives. Anyone who adopts a puppy from Abelard must also agree to return the puppy during any point in its life if an adopter is no longer able to keep the puppy.
