Sure, an artist’s original work is not cheap, but there are plenty of up-and-coming or fairly unknown artists that would be happy to sell you their quality work at a more inexpensive price, you just need to know where to look. Here are five of the best places to find new and vintage art at a price that is affordable to stay within your decorating budget.

The artREsource gallery is a reseller of modern and contemporary art created here in the Northwest as well as some nationally recognized artists. The Schack Art Center, located in downtown Everett, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and celebrating the arts in a community atmosphere. The center operates like a gallery, an artist’s workshop and a classroom. The Schack Shop is open year round featuring a wide selection of jewelry, cards, glass, pottery, paintings and more, all from local artists. In addition, it is hosting an Artists’ Garage Sale on June 7, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., where over 100 artists will be selling their art and art supplies for bargain prices. It’s well worth the trip.

Located within the Seattle Art Museum, the SAM Gallery offers a large and always-changing selection of original works from a diverse group of Northwest artists. Boasting of over 1,000 paintings, drawings, mixed-media works and photographs, the SAM Gallery offers affordable art for your home or office. Unlike the main museum, admission is always free and the gallery features regular shows and receptions including visits with the artists themselves.
