Barrio makes for a great stop alone or with friends and family any time of day. Nestle into the cozy booths in back, watch the Capitol Hill hipsters stroll down 12th from your perch in the front room or belly up to the bar and possibly make a new friend. But wherever you plant yourself, make sure you visit during happy hour which runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday. During this time, enjoy discounts on beer and wine from 50 cents to $2 off. There’s also a significant discount offered on tacos. Normally tacos ring in at $14 a plate (for three), but during happy hour you can enjoy the upscale ambience of Barrio and its handcrafted tacos for just $3.50 each.

El Quetzal once flew under the radar, but once bloggers and critics found this gem, it became harder to snag a seat. In answer to the demand, El Quetzal added twice the space and an updated sports bar which is the perfect place to catch international soccer action. The food is made and delivered to your table with loving care at this Beacon Hill classic. Expect fresh-made tortas, horchata, guacamole, pico de gallo and a host of other delicious condiments to enhance your meal. But if you are pining for tacos, visit from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday for a plate of three delicious tacos for only $5.
1000 E. Pike St.
Seattle, WA 98122
This see-and-be-seen joint is loaded with atmosphere created by dramatic light fixtures, big cozy booths, handmade tiles and a big showy bar. The lively crowd keeps this place buzzing as it enjoys first-rate cocktails and tasty, authentic fare while watching Capitol Hill’s hippest parade down 12th through the expansive picture windows that line the street. But the crowds aren’t rolling in just because of the design and atmosphere. Poquitos knocks out consistently flavorful and fairly priced fare, including its terrific tacos which ring in at four for $4 during the daily happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and again from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. And don’t miss the made-to-order guacamole and impressive selection of premium tequila.
