Chef William Leaman calls Seattle home but has won many international awards for his desserts, and Nouveau lives up to the hype – the twice-baked almond croissant is not to be beat, the cakes are rich and delectable and the breads make for heavenly sandwiches. Try the turkey and havarti croissant or the ham and swiss baguette and prepare to be wowed.
Honore Artisan Bakery

Honore’s outstanding macaroons come in a variety of eclectic flavors, including lemon, pistachio, lavendar chocolate, milk chocolate and coconut. The scones and speciality cookies also stand out. (the lime cornmeal is our favorite). Grab something sweet with a cup of coffee and lounge outside at Honore’s outdoor patio.

Don’t go here for sweets – Tall Grass mostly focuses on artisian breads and granola – but do pay a visit if you’re looking for that perfect loaf to accompany a home-cooked meal. Tall Grass can be found at the Phinney’s Farmers Market. Tall Grass also offers bagels and some cookies.

Cafe Besalu offers authentic French pastries, but expect a line. Fortunately it moves quickly thanks to mostly efficient service. The hot almond croissants have just the right amount of butter and flakiness. Besaulu also offers oustanding quiche, danishes and lattes.
