Celebrating its 25th year in the Puget Sound, Safe N Sound Swimming has two locations with different classes at each pool. At the Seattle location, there are parent and child classes for infants from 6 months to 36 months. Mom or Dad is in the water with the child, introducing the child to the water and making it a fun experience. At the Bothell location, children from ages 3-10 are offered 15 minute one-on-one lessons with an instructor, or are given 30 minute small group lessons, with 3:1 or 4:1 instruction.

An award-winning facility, the city of Montlake Terrace boasts a pool that offers more than lessons for children starting at 9 months, but also a floating lazy river, water features, and a family-friendly place for a birthday party or day of fun. Want to get your teenager off the couch and doing something active? The pool has a new program for 14-18 year olds to get them in the water and in good swimming shape.

Built in 1990 for the Goodwill Games, the South Sound’s state of the art facility still hosts regional, national and international diving and swimming competitions. In addition, Red Cross trained swim instructors lead parent/tot classes for children as young as 9 months, and group lessons for children aged 3-14. Individual classes are also available on request, and weekend family swim times are offered for a nominal fee.

Waterbabies is offered at pools in Bellevue, Sammamish and Everett. Their philosophy is to teach parents how to teach their children to be comfortable in water and learn to swim. Parents are very involved in their child’s swim lessons. At 5 months, babies and their parents can take the Bathtub Babies workshop, a 90 minute class which focuses on bonding and spends time on land and in the water. Classes are offered for children up through early elementary years, even classes for children over the age of 6 who have never had swimming lessons in the past.
