Remember the tale of Stone Soup? The magical soup that was only made with a stone – and all the other ingredients the villagers didn’t realize were making the soup so delicious? In the spirit of the holidays, and giving, Chef John Howie of the famous Seastar restaurants, is initiating a food collection for Food Lifeline at his South Lake Union location, which he hopes will become an annual Stone Soup event.

From Thursday, November 3 to Thursday, November 17, donors of non-perishable food items to any of the participating stores at 2200 Westlake will be given an invitation to return and enjoy a complimentary bowl of Vegetable Barley soup prepared and served by Howie in the plaza outside of Seastar from 4:30pm – 7:00pm on Thursday, November 17. Like the “villagers” in the story of Stone Soup, it will be a celebration of community spirit! A truck filled with your donations will head to Food Lifeline to help make Thanksgiving dinners for those who need them in Western Washington.
