Want to get your family involved in giving back this Thanksgiving? There are things you can do at local charities, and there are big ways you can help right from your home.

YMCA Thanksgiving Baskets

Help provide a wholesome, nutritious Thanksgiving meal for families in our programs and community! We will be accepting non-perishable food contributions and once food baskets are collected, they will be put into decorative pick up boxes. Bring a food basket(s) to the Lake Heights Center YMCA (12635 SE 56th St Bellevue, WA 98006) between 7:00am – 6:30pm or the Coal Creek Family YMCA between 9:00am – 11:00am and 4:30pm – 6:30pm with the following non-perishable food items:

Canned fruit or vegetables
Stuffing mix
Non-perishable pie crust and/or pie filing
Bisquick or dinner rolls

Every year the YWCA partners with the community to provide Thanksgiving Baskets to the families in our Central Seattle housing shelters. Donors throughout the Seattle area are matched with families and their wish lists. The baskets never fail to bring smiles and joy to the families and kids living in our Seattle shelters. Basket assembly will begin Tuesday, November 22 at 5pm and will continue on Wednesday, November 23 at 11am in the Uptown Pavilion in Gig Harbor. Personalize it to help welcome our Thanksgiving Day guests. It’s a fun group activity for all ages. Kids can color the drawing on the back! Salvation Army

On Thanksgiving Day, JC Penney will donate $50 to The Salvation Army, (up to $400,000) for every angel adopted online through the Salvation Army’s Angel Giving Tree online program – giving customers another reason to take advantage of online Black Friday specials at http://www.jcp.com. This year, you have the option of adopting an angel as an individual or as a group. Adopting angels as a group allows your company, church, civic club or online community to adopt more than 10 angels together.

    Thank God we have some footage of the end of the Christians ilivng in Turkey (Asia Minor). Yet, we must know that footage did not capture the hoards of humanity that converged on the docks of Smyrna Bay. We do not see women delivering their babies prematurely STANDING UP because there was no place to lie down. We do not see the mothers holding their dead infants for days. We do not see hoards of people who deliberately drowned themselves. We do not see Turkish soldiers wacking off people’s hands and noses with their swords and stealing what they had. We do not see .
