Mitt Romney holds a slight edge over rival Ron Paul in recent polls in Iowa. Rick Santorum, a former senator, has surged past Newt Gingrich into third place in polls, building momentum in the final days of a close race that has seen a series of candidates rise and fall.

Almost two-thirds of Iowa’s Republican political pros predict that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will win the state’s caucuses on Tuesday, but his campaign’s margin for error over Texas Rep. Ron Paul is slim.

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said he feels “Romney-boated” by the barrage of negative ads run against the former House speaker by a super PAC that supports rival candidate Mitt Romney.

Los Angeles police were investigating nine new fires overnight that could be connected to a string of nearly four dozen arson blazes that have hit theHollywood and Valley areas since last Friday.
