Come Discover the World of Musical Theater at The 5th It’s a day of fun for the whole family. And it’s FREE!

In celebration of the 5th Avenue Theatre’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s groundbreaking musical Oklahoma! (February 3 – March 4), it’s the first ever 5th Avenue Theatre Community Day! Proudly co-hosted by the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Community Day will give the whole family an opportunity to “jump right in” to the musical theater experience.

The festivities will kick off with a traditional Lion Dance! The Lieu Quan Lion Dance Team will perform a cai qing ceremony blessing the theatre, celebrating the Year of the Dragon, and honoring the Chinese-inspired heritage of the 5th Avenue.

Preview the new 2012 touring spring show with Adventure Musical Theatre, the touring, educational arm of the 5th Avenue. AMT will travel the state bringing the show Klondike to schools all spring. Klondike is a musical adventure from Seattle to the wild Yukon to discover this important and thrilling period in Pacific Northwest history. Witness the hardships, struggles, and triumphs experienced by those in the frontier, and learn how the Klondike Gold Rush shaped our region forever. On Community Day, you can see Klondike first!

Sing a Song from Oklahoma! Experience the joy of singing the amazing music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Everyone is welcome!

Take a tour of the Theatre. Built in 1926, The 5th Avenue Theatre is a living piece of Seattle history. The glorious theater, whose interior design is inspired by royal sites in China, will be open for morning tours.
