June 14 is a special day in America – it’s Flag Day, commemorating the adoption of the United States flag in 1777 and the US Army’s birthday – 237 years ago our Nation’s leaders established the Continental Army, beginning a rich heritage of successfully defending this great country and her citizens. A chance to show our patriotic spirit. The parade features more than 75 entries and a Grand Marshall, plus a special salute to all returning Veterans. End the day with dancing and raffle drawings. One of the only Flag Day parades in Western Washington.

Evergreen Washelli will celebrate Flag Day by accepting flags for retirement. Evergreen Washelli is also in need of 5’ x 9 ½’ flags for The Avenue of Colors in our Veterans Memorial Cemetery, as well as for retiring flags upon Veteran’s cremations. You may donate by: bringing in a flag for donation, donating any dollar amount towards a new flag, or donating $70 for a new flag in memory of a loved one.

Service members, veterans, and their family members are invited to celebrate the US Army’s 237th birthday at the annual birthday ball! Tickets are $40 per person and are available for purchase. Soldiers and Families at JBLM should contact their brigade CSM for tickets.
