Supporters of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in more than 90 communities across the country will join together to participate in the Give thanks. Walk., an exciting, INDOOR family-friendly 5K walk to raise money for the children of St. Jude. Participants are encouraged to form walk teams with their friends, family and co-workers and recruit sponsors to make donations in support of their efforts and the lifesaving work done at St. Jude. The walk is hosted by 94.1 KMPS, and will include goodie bags, live music and fun! Register online or the day of the walk to participate.

18th Annual Norpoint Turkey Trot

The Norpoint Turkey Trot is the oldest and largest Turkey Trot in Tacoma! The event is “stuffed” with holiday activities and features a 5k run, 2-mile run/walk and a kids’ trot. Both the 5k and 2 mile routes begin at the Center at Norpoint and wind through the streets of Northeast Tacoma, providing mountain and sound views for participants. The kids’ trot course remains on the Center at Norpoint campus. Participants in the kids’ trot are invited to join Norpoint staff for crafts and games in the gym while parents run/walk in the 5k or 2-mile events. Register online.

More than 11,000 people participated in the marathon and half marathon running and walking events in 2011, and over 40,000 people passed through the Amica Insurance Seattle Marathon EXPO 2011 in the two days leading up to the main event on Sunday morning. The Seattle Children’s Kids Marathon is structured to allow children—kindergarten through eighth grade—to complete a full 26.2 mile marathon at a rate that is fun and safe for their growing bodies “one mile at a time.” It also encourages them to read 13 books and perform 13 do rights (good deeds). Join in this annual tradition in downtown Seattle! The Kids’ Marathon and 5K races are on Saturday, November 24 and the Marathon and Half Marathon take place on Sunday, November 25.
