(CBS Seattle) – Former Seattle Schools Superintendent Dr. Maria Goodloe-Johnson has died.
Seattle CBS affiliate KIRO-TV reports Goodloe-Johnson had been sick for about a year. Her family members spoke with a Chatleston TV station about the doctor’s death, but did not reveal the cause. According to the family, funeral arrangements still have not been made.
The highly controversial superintendent was fired from Seattle Public Schools in 2011 after an audit revealed $1.8 million dollars worth of misused money. The funds had inefficiently been used to promote small business contractors.
A spokesperson from Seattle Public Schools said that Goodloe Johnson most recently was employed by the Detroit School District.
