A labor of love… The Seagull Project has consumed the lives of 10 actors. For nine months, they have been researching, exploring creative possibilities, and rehearsing in both traditional and vibrantly new ways to fully bring Anton Chekhov’s magnificent play, The Seagull, to life in Seattle.

You have a chance to experience Anton Chekhov’s first great play, The Seagull, when it comes to ACT – A Contemporary Theatre – January 23 through February 10, 2013. Featuring some of Seattle’s top acting talent, The Seagull has been beguiling audiences and defying description for 115 years. Part slice-of-life tragedy, part ironic satire, part reaction to the prevailing melodrama and romanticism of the day, The Seagull follows the lives of ten extraordinary, vivid characters on a provincial estate in pre-revolutionary Russia.

The play’s tensions build to a dazzling climax on a dark and stormy night, where a young actress and a young writer are reunited for the last time before a dramatic reckoning that fulfills and defies expectation.
