(1090 The Fan) – Will the Sacramento Kings be moving? If so, are they heading to Virginia Beach? These questions were supposed to be answered today by the city’s mayor Will Sessoms, but it looks like Sacramento, Seattle and the rest of the NBA will have to wait a little longer for some clarity.
Dale Kasler of the Sacramento Bee reports Sessoms will not make any announcement for cutting a deal on a new NBA arena Monday despite setting a deadline last week.
Sessoms set a deadline in order to present a concrete plan to the state legislature for a proposed $150 million subsidy.
The Kings’ owners, Gavin and Joe Maloof, have remained silent on the Virginia Beach proposal, however, multiple reports have suggested the brothers have been in discussions with a local arena developer in the Virginia Beach.
Talks have been relatively quiet in Seattle regarding the proposed SODO arena since November of 2012 when investor Chris Hansen released preliminary designs for the complex.
Hansen and the pro-arena movement also still have to appease the Longshore Union which has threatened to file a legal challenge to the construction of the facility.
