(CBS Seattle) – According to a new report from Business Insider, Oregon State University is considered the 17th most underrated college in America.

Ultimately, the study weighed incomes of various college graduates; samples came from what many consider to be prestigious colleges and samples from schools that typically fall under the radar. Business Insider plotted U.S. News’ ranking of the best colleges against PayScale’s mid-career salary rank to identify the outliers (overrated versus underrated).

OSU ranked #278 in Business Insider’s composite of U.S. News’s college and university lists and ranked #148 in PaySale’s mid-career salary list.

According to the report, OSU gets more funding for research than all other public institutions for higher education in Oregon combined. The roughly 26,000-student school specializes in marine sciences, forestry and sustainable food system studies.

The report concluded that the University of Massachusetts-Lowell is the most underrated college in America where graduates earned a high average mid-career salary of more than $92,000.
