SAN ANTONIO – Seattle lost the first of a two-game mini-series with the Silver Stars at the AT&T Center in San Antonio Sunday night, 70-64. The two teams are now 2-2 against each other this season, with the decisive regular season series finale on Tuesday night at 5pm PT.

A slow start plagued Seattle, as the Storm was outscored 19-10 in the first quarter. The next three quarters saw the two teams play even; with the Silver Stars taking a 10-point lead into the locker room at the half. Seattle closed out the third quarter down just 50-42, but went cold for the first 3 minutes of the fourth, not scoring until a pair of Temeka Johnson free throws at the 6:47 mark. Seattle was never able to tie or take the lead.

Tanisha Wright and Noelle Quinn kept the Storm within striking distance, with Wright going 5-5 from the free throw line in the first quarter for five of the Storm’s first eight points, and Quinn scoring a season high 14 points. Wright also dished out seven assists and had four steals. Tina Thompson and Camille Little scored 11 points apiece. Little also grabbed six rebounds.

The Silver Stars, who were without point guard Danielle Robinson, were led by a double-double from Shenise Johnson, who 17 points and 10 rebounds. Danielle Adams and Jia Perkins each scored 14. Jayne Appel grabbed nine rebounds.

The Storm will return home against Connecticut on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. at KeyArena.
