(1090 The Fan) — Seattle Seahawks star punter Jon Ryan joined The Steve Sandmeyer Show from VMAC to talk about the fine art of punting as the team prepared to travel to Carolina to take on the Panthers.

When asked about going for it on fourth down, rather than punting or even going for a field goal, he replied: “If we punt it 70 times in a year, I think I’d like to fake it 65 of them. If it was up to me, you know. We don’t necessarily have a fake in, but that week we did so I was in Brian Schneider’s ear. As it turns out, they made a good call to call it.”

He also talked about keeping his leg strong, holding for kicker Steven Hauschka, study with special teams coach Brian Schneider and long snapper Clint Gresham. Since he holds season tickets, He also chatted a bit of Mariners baseball with Steve and Jason, offering his thoughts on what the club should go after this winter.
