SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle police have increased patrols around Nova High School after suspicious chemicals were found outside a restroom.
Detective Drew Fowler says the discovery came after an arson fire on campus.
Police went to the school at about 7:30 a.m. after receiving a report that someone had set fire to the principal’s office door. The fire was extinguished without incident.
School staff then found a chemical sprayed outside a gender-neutral restroom. The department’s arson detectives are investigating whether it was the same materials used to ignite the office door.
School officials are continuing classes and working with police to ensure the safety of the students.
