SEATTLE (CBS) — Despite a reported contract offer from the Seattle Seahawks, defensive tackle Brandon Mebane signed a 3-year deal with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday, the first day of NFL free agency.
The Chargers confirmed the signing via Twitter.
According to 710 ESPN’s Gee Scott, the Seattle Seahawks offered Mebane, 31, a contract earlier this week. His previous contract with Seattle was a five year, $25 million deal (with $9 million guaranteed).
The Seahawks drafted Mebane in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. In 2015, he recorded 1.5 sacks and 14 tackles through 15 games.
