TACOMA, Wash. – The Tacoma Rainiers (67-48) dropped a 10-2 decision to the Sacramento River Cats (54-62) on Sunday night at Cheney Stadium.

The Rainiers offense was led by second baseman Daniel Robertson (3×4), right fielder James Ramsey (2×4), and first baseman Stefen Romero (1×4). The trio combined for two runs and one RBI.

The River Cats began the scoring with a run in the top of the third inning on a single to right field from Travis Ishikawa plating Ramiro Pena, giving Sacramento the 1-0 advantage.

Sacramento extended their lead to 8-0 with seven runs in the top of the fourth inning when the first seven batters of the inning came around to score. The frame was highlighted by a three-run home run to right field from Pena.

The Rainiers got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-out RBI single to center field from Ketel Marte scoring James Ramsey, making it 8-1 in favor of Sacramento.

Stefen Romero smashed a solo home run over the left field fence to lead off the bottom half of the sixth inning, cutting the River Cats lead to six runs at 8-2.

The River Cats pushed their lead to 10-2 with two runs in the top of the seventh inning on singles from Grant Green and Ali Castillo to score Jarrett Parker and Miguel Olivo.

Tacoma starting pitcher Zach Lee worked 5.0 innings, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits. He issued two walks and struck out three.

Tacoma and Sacramento continue their series tomorrow, Monday, August 8, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. PT. The Rainiers will turn to right-hander Sam Gaviglio (1-0, 2.84) for the start, while the River Cats hand the ball to right-hander Joan Gregorio (3-6, 5.89).
