Santa will be at the Market from 12 to 5 p.m. to take free holiday photos with kids of all ages who want to relay their holiday wishes to the man himself. Additionally, visitors can enjoy family-friendly activities including cookie decorating in the Atrium Kitchen for children 12 and under, live music from STRUM and other local musicians on Pike Place and in the Atrium, and opportunities to shop for holiday gifts and Christmas trees. At 5 p.m. Santa will lead a countdown to the lighting of the Market’s giant holiday tree and lights illuminating the Market.
Hot beverages from local vendors will be available for purchase, and Pike Place Market mascots Carrot and Strawberry will be passing out this year’s souvenir pin and stickers designed by Market craftsperson Graig Anderson. Additionally, Christmas trees, wreaths, swags and other holiday décor from Growing Washington will be for sale on Pike Place.
New for this year’s festivities at the Market are an all-digital holiday gift guide and “Stockings and Stuffers” shopping event in the MarketFront pavilion.
The fully interactive gift guide allows visitors to preplan an adventure to the Market and get a jump start on holiday shopping, with hand-picked gift recommendations from a variety of categories. When gifts are selected from the guide, a customized shopping list and map will be generated, allowing Market-goers to come to the Market prepared to easily locate and purchase the items they selected. To browse the online gift guide, visit www.pikeplacemarket.org/giftguide. (Site to be live on November 25.)
“Stockings and Stuffers” in the MarketFront pavilion will feature multiple Pike Place Market craftspeople, selling specially made holiday stockings and small gifts to stuff them with.
Additionally, on the first three Saturdays in December from 1 to 2:30 p.m., local high school bands will spread holiday cheer with live music in the Atrium.
Parking is available in the Public Market Parking Garage at 1531 Western Avenue and the MarketFront Parking Garage at 1901 Western Avenue, with direct elevator access to the MarketFront and Desimone Bridge entrance to the Market.
